Incoming Assistant Professor in Engineering Physics
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida
My name is Hongling Lott. I am an experimental materials science researcher.
I believe that we can understand the physical world better, one atom and one compound at a time -- with better understanding, we can create a better world.
I achieve this vision using my expertise in synthesizing semiconductor thin films and nanostructures, using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), for basic science, quantum, energy, and sensing technology research. In Spring 2027, I will join Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Daytona Beach, Florida) as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Engineering Physics.
It is an exciting time to join Embry-Riddle. I will establish a research laboratory focused on the synthesis and engineering of II–VI semiconductor thin films and nanostructures for fundamental science, space exploration, quantum information, energy technologies, and beyond. Molecular beam epitaxy, a technique I have worked with for nearly a decade, will serve as the central tool for this research program.
I will be recruiting motivated Ph.D. students to join my research group. Stay tuned for more information about research opportunities and applications in 2027!
